The Bellwoods Cooperative Living Project
is situated at Church and Carlton Streets in downtown Toronto.
The Project accomodates twelve clients and has shared facilities,
including two kitchens, three bathrooms, and a community centre
and lounge with internet access and a software library. Rent
is geared to income.
Support Services are client-directed
and assist clients to carry out the activities of daily living
as outlined in an individual support service agreement and
individual service plan.
All twelve units also include program
support which
provides clients
with
the
assistance
and encouragement to develop the necessary skills associated
with daily living, such as money management, self-directing
care, and accessing community resources. Support is offered
on both an individual and group basis.
Support services such as personal grooming,
hygiene, dressing and toileting are available twenty four hours
per day, seven days per week. In addition, the Church Street
Project provides homemaking services
and a Program Support Worker to assist clients with the education
and training necessary to foster greater independence.
The Cooperative Living Project will be
relocated to a new supportive housing project at 1082 Dundas
Street West currently in the development phase. It will include
31 new accessible apartments.
